Our History

A dynamic young preacher, Rodney Duron, began pastoring this church in the 50's when it was located in the Cedar Grove area of Shreveport.

Through the years, the congregation has grown from 50 to over 1,000 people strong each weekend.

Bursting at the seams, the church body felt compelled to build a new building west of Shreveport on Buncombe Road at West 70th.

Once there, the congregation continued to grow until three Sunday morning services became a necessity and once again, the church knew it was time to build.

In 1993-94, the current worship facility was constructed and the older one became the youth auditorium.

The first service in the main auditorium took place in April 1994.

In 1998, Pastor Rodney Duron turned the reins of the church over to his son, Denny Duron.

Head of Denny Duron Evangelistic Association and the 1500 Family Club, Denny has continued to fulfill the vision of his father and the church family - to reach out to the needs of this community, to serve as Christ's hands to both the influential and the needy.

Over 100 ministries have been launched to serve the church and the community's spiritual, physical, and relational needs.

Denny and his wife DeAnza, the parents of six, active children, have a heart for the needs of couples and families, as well as for inner-city youth and the poor of our area.

They desire for members of the church to develop spiritually while building lifelong friendships.

Through the ministries of God in this church, thousands of lives have been transformed.

Our Vision

It is our mission to reach the lost and develop them into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

WHY IS YOUR WORSHIP SO LIVELY?
When we worship God, we express our heartfelt love and adoration of Him. This may be through shouts of joy, singing, dancing, clapping, as well as through moments of quietness and reflection. In these ways we outwardly express our love and faith in God. We believe God accepts both our exuberant and contemplative worship when given in sincerity.

WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?
We believe that God is one God, yet He is also three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This doctrine is called the Trinity. When Jesus returned to the Father, He sent the Holy Spirit to earth to guide us to Himself. We are not alone; even though Jesus is not here in body He is here in spirit, by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit communicates the presence of Jesus.

WHAT IS SPEAKING IN TONGUES?
On the day of Pentecost when the disciples were baptised with the Holy Spirit, they all began to speak in other tongues. The gift of tongues is available to all believers. Exercising this gift strengthens your spiritual life and allows your spirit to communicate with God in a supernatural language (1 Corinthians 14).

WHY DO YOU PRAISE IN TONGUES TOGETHER?
Some ask if this is not in direct opposition to Paul's instruction on orderly worship (1 Corinthians 14:27-33). Our answer is that Paul is not confronting the issue of speaking in tongues collectively, but is giving guidance to those who want to address the congregation in tongues. We can all praise God and pray in tongues together, but when addressing the congregation in tongues it must be with interpretation and one at a time.

WHY DO CHRISTIANS GIVE MONEY TO THE CHURCH?
Ultimately we are not giving money to the church but to God. What we give is so small in comparison with what He has given us, His only Son. God is not looking to be repaid, but does delight in a cheerful giver, for the act of giving reveals the condition of our hearts towards Him.

Many people respond negatively to giving in church. "The government taxes us", you might say, "why should the church also"? No one should view their giving to God as tax but as an investment. God promises good returns on any investment in His work. God is no man's debtor!

We call our giving to God tithes and offerings. The word tithe means 'a tenth'. The first recorded tithe in the Bible was by a man named Abraham, the man of faith, and that is what is needed in tithing, faith! As money often represents our security for the future, it takes genuine faith in God to give today while trusting Him for tomorrow.

WHY DO I NEED TO BE SAVED?
The Bible teaches that "all have sinned and fallen short of God's standard" (Romans 3:23). Sin is anything that is wrong in God's sight. We need to be saved because the consequences of sin is death, and after death, the judgement.

God desires to save us from this through Jesus' death on the cross and His resurrection. He willingly took upon Himself the punishment for our sins and rose again, so we could be forgiven and have eternal life. Only those who have been forgiven by God through Christ's death on the cross will be saved from condemnation.
